I am unable to type any of the characters on top on the numbers such as pound sign, percent sign, etc. It appears
as if the the shift key no longer functions. The caps lock key is off. Any suggestions or assistance would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance,

Sticky keys maybe...check Universal Access. If your modifier keys get held down for more than a few seconds it will sometimes enable this feature. Other modifier keys(cmd, opt, ctl) ok?

Shift Key Issues

Thanks for the prompt replies. Both shift keys are inoperable and all other prompt keys work fine.

It seems you can still make capital letters? Does that work and is it really only the number keys, that don't work with shift?

I am unable to make capital letters with the shift key depressed. The only way I can make capital letters is with the Caps Lock key depressed.
