Hi -- I have a 30' cinema display circa 2005. it's been great no problems except i had to replace the big power block thing once a year after I got it. I've been running it connected to my G4 15" powerbook.

I just bought a new macbook pro 13"; bought the dual output mini dvi thing, and the display works.

However, I have been noticing intermittent shimmering vertical linear lines occasionanally that seem to be lime green or yellow. They are not in the same place all the time, though usually on the left, and they only show up sometimes against a darker type background. The purple leopard background is one background where I see them....

it does not matter if i jiggle the connector...maybe I need a new mini-DVI thingy?

sound familiar?

Well there are some easy tests you can perform and I'd likely try in this order.

  • See if the shimmering lines are on the 13" MBP display
  • Replace the MDP to dual DVI adapter
  • Plug the ACD into another machine and see if the problem persists.
  • Plug another display into the 13" MBP and see if the problem persists

thanks. for sure the lines are not on the MBP display.
Next...I am going to replace the adaptor today and see if that helps...

thanks!!!!
