Hey
I just got a 12PB and it shipped with a company called Same Day Right Away. I was given a tracking number that seems utterly useless. I was wondering if anyone out there also had their stuff shipped with this company and how long it took and where oh where I can use my tracking numbers to see where my baby is
Thanks

Looks like a very local, very low-tech company. They don't even have a website from what I can see, only a chart of what (very small) area the service. If its called Same Day Right Away, shouldn't you have it now? Or maybe tomorrow? Who did you buy from and what did they tell you?

I've had something shipped by them before. They were quite quick, but I believe that all they had to do is ship from somewhere around Brampton, Ontario to my home in Thornhill. Anyway, they were quite quick, regardless. :) I don't think I had a problem with them. :)

they DO have a website. and my friend bought a 12" PB 2 weeks ago and it got to him just fine and within good time.

In the same boat...

I'm in the exact same boat as you (waiting for my 12" pb as well) and have Same Day Right Away as my courier. You can check your shipping info on their website www.sameday.ca. Apple had my pb listed at shipped on the 28th but it isn't showing on Sameday's website. I called Sameday and found out that they won't have it listed on the site until they receive it (basically the same day or 1 day before it'll be delivered). I guess the story is that UPS carries apple's stuff to the border, and Sameday takes it from there.

I really can't wait to get my pb, I was hoping I'd get it by the weekend, but I think that dream is dead now. I'm kind of disappointed because, first, I wish FedEX was handling my order, then I could track it right from Apple, and second, because things look like they're going to take a while to arrive. I've ordered things from Apple at school (in the states) and it always arrives in only a couple of days (using the free shipping). This time, my pb will probably take the actual 8-10 days (I really shouldn't complain) and my iPod has been pushed to Aug.8.

Oh, what a hard life it is waiting for all your cool new crap. :D

Hope you get your pb soon.

Cheers

Roger

I've had mixed luck with shipping times with Sameday. Of course, I can't be sure how much of the delay is due to their shipping, as a previous poster has said that UPS handles their stuff until it reaches the border.

They handled an order for some Creature II speakers that I ordered for my girlfriend, and they came exactly 12 business days after they were shipped (the very last day of the estimated shipping time). Another order arrived very shortly after shipping from California, something like 2 days later - I can't remember exactly what that was, but it did ship quickly.

Best of luck, you'll love the new computer. My rev. B 12" PB rarely leaves my side.

thanks all

yeah thanks for the posts. I am going crazy here. U spend so much and then have to sit and wait without the bittersweet joy of at least tracking your package. Oh well

Continuing to wait.

I was unimpressed

I just bought a new 15 inch PB, iPod and AppleCare all at the same time. The first two shipped by FedEx, and arrived ahead of the estimated delivery date. The AppleCare shipped the same day that I ordered it via Same Day Right Away. It took 2 weeks to arrive, 3 different delivery attempts, and on the final one, they called from a block away saying they couldn't find my street! So, I now have my AppleCare (not that there was any rush to get it), but I certainly wouldn't choose to send anything with SameDay.

Huh... good to see that somebody started a thread with exactly the same question I had, "Who is Same Day Right Away?" I ordered 4 items and the order was processed on July 22: an iBook, a PowerBook, an extra AC adapter, and a .Mac package. It's now July 30, and the .Mac CD box arrived yesterday, the AC adapter has yet to show up, and the laptops have apparently not yet even shipped.

So, it looks like shipping will not be too fast. Not sure if this is entirely within Same Day's control. It is too bad that the tracking number seems useless.

This is a work order, so I hope Apple is reasonable with their ship times. I don't care much for companies that are slow to deliver for work or business equipment.

More info...

Well guys, I called Apple today (I'm worried that I won't receive my iPod because I'll leave for school on the 12th and its scheduled to ship on the 9th) and I think I figured out how the system works.

The guy on the phone explained that if the order is coming from overseas (as my iPod is) then it will already be using express shipping (FedEX) and will arrive quickly. If, in the case of my pb, it ships domestically (from cupertino maybe?), then it will take closer to the allotted 8-10 days.

So, I guess its a roll of the dice. If my pb had shipped from overseas, then it would be mailed by FedEX and I could track it the whole way. Also, it would be shipped express at no extra charge. But, since it shipped from the US, it shipped "regular" (Sameday) and will take a while. If I had bumped my pb shipping to express then it would ship FedEX for sure (not sure if from US or overseas).

Okay, hope that info helps a bit. I guess the moral of the story is that if you're ordering something that you know will ship from overseas, don't waste your money and pay for express shipping (because it will ship express no matter what). If you know it will ship domestic, then pay for the express if you want it fast.

Cheers

Roger
