How long does it usual take to order a custom Macbook Air? Looking to purchase the 256/8 GB RAM version.

up to 3 days to prepare, then a couple days shipping depending on where you life and your courier. If you're using FedEx, you can track fedex plane arrivals with flightaware. I was supposed to get mine on the 8th but i got mine on the 3rd

I ordered on June 29th and received it on July 5th. Take note that I ordered on a Saturday, and orders do not advance on weekends, so disregard the 29th and 30th; but it arrived very early in the morning, so I wouldn't count that day either.. so... it took 4 business days from Monday July 1st to Thursday July 4th to arrive to my local Fedex and the morning of the 5th day to arrive to my hands.

Given what we know about working conditions at Foxconn I think we can assume that orders do advance on weekends (and US holidays)

I live in Europe. Ordered mine in June 12 and received it until July 2. It was an awful wait.

Maybe it took longer because they gave me an Incase backpack as a gift, and they needed to merge the packages in one single delivery.

I'm in the UK. The store couldn't give me my spec (and 1st apple!) so had to order. Ordered online on the 29th (Saturday) and it's due to be delivered Monday or Tuesday. So for me it was/is approximately 11 very long days! However I also had a case with mine and they had to merge orders so possibly an extra couple of days.

Took mine 6 days from ordering to receiving. Only upgraded to 8GB though, from base 13"

I ordered mine (i7/8/256) Tuesday around 7am EST. It went to FedEx Thursday at 2:30am, arrived in Anchorage Saturday 5:30pm and landed in Memphis Sunday at 7am. FedEx still shows it scheduled for delivery Wednesday but I'm hopeful it will arrive a day early.

Yes they do. Mine was shipped from Shanghai on last Sunday. (At least the flight started on Sunday from Shanghai.)

BTO Shipping Time

Just as one reference point, I ordered my BTO Air (13", i7/8/512) on 7/2/13, it was shipped on 7/5/13, and will be delivered today (South Carolina) 7/8/13. The original estimated delivery date was 7/11/13, so Apple/FEDEX beat that by 3 days. I chose standard shipping.
