Shipping route from China?

Hey guys, just a general question regarding Apple shipping.

I have ordered things from Apple before that shipped from Memphis directly (refurb 30'' Cinema Display). I have also ordered things from Apple that originate in China and come in through Anchorage.

However my recently ordered remote control came from China, to Anchorage to Memphis THEN to Southern California... does anyone know why it went to Memphis and then to SoCal instead of coming here straight from Alaska?

What has been your tracking history with Apple products?

Mephis is a large FedEx hub, so a lot of stuff passes through there. It is very common.

I live close to Indianapolis so anything I have received from China goes through Anchorage and then directly to Indianapolis and then is driven by truck to my city.
