Wow, the cases pictured have a bump because the iPhone 13's camera bump is just so ridiculously big. That means even with a case on the phone it will still wobble on a flat surface when hitting on-screen buttons e.g. using the calculator app. This is the very reason I'm not buying an iPhone 13 series. Enough already with this madness.

I’m in the market for the clear MagSafe case that Apple makes since it seems like 3rd party cases don’t work on magnetized car mounts.

Any sales on those lately?

While I'd love to pick up the Apple Pencil 2 for my iPad mini, I honestly do not use it nearly enough to warrant even the reduced $99 price tag.

How aggressively are you pushing the calculator keys for your phone to rock? I was just able to hit every key multiple times and it didn't budge.... so maybe it's your aggressive touching and not the bump that's the problem?

As far as your declaration.. Apple doesn't care. The average non MacRumors customer doesn't care about camera bumps, notches etc. Only people such as yourself care about such things. Most people want the phone to function properly, take decent pics, have decent battery life and to bring them enjoyment which it does. The fact that you and the very very vocal minority (here on MR) will not buying the iPhone 13 means nothing to apple or it's bottom line.

My major issue with the current case line up is the lack of colors for the leather offerings. I enjoy the red case so decided to get the silicone.... big mistake. The quality of the silicone case is garbage when compared to the leather. So hoping Apple pulls their head out of their 4th point of contact and puts out some new colors.

To hear certain people tell it, the last iPhone worth buying was the 3GS...

A lot of these headlines presume that I got more than coal for Christmas, but I don't have a new anything. Bah Humbug!

apple leather case is complete trash, drop it once and its ripped, the clear case is also trash, its a hard plastic and it cracks on drop.

I just did a quick test, and am skeptical of this claim. There were only 2 buttons that I could press with minimal rocking (5 and 8)...all others caused extreme instability and "tapping" of the tabletop, even with very light button presses. How could you not experience this?

Because average users just buy what Apple tells them to. They are not particularly discerning, and certainly not experts in UX. However, poor design is poor design, regardless of whether a majority of users realize it.
Only people such as yourself care about such things.
So, only people that care care? Got it.

Depends what you mean by "function properly." There are many terrible phone designs that can take pictures and have decent battery life. That doesn't make them good. Apple's current focus on design over usability has caused the iPhone experience to continually degrade. The lock button is now opposed to the volume buttons, causing regular inadvertent photos; the unreasonable thinness dictates a camera bump (also resulting in smaller batteries and less battery life); the elimination of the home button means inadvertent activation of many "easter egg" interface functions, since the screen is essentially "always on" for detection purposes (why is my phone lighting up? why did the flashlight just turn on?, etc); lack of a home/TouchID button also results in a terrible user experience with FaceID - it doesn't work while the phone is on my nightstand, on my desk, in my pocket, pointed at a paypoint terminal, or while I'm talking, laughing, yawning, or wearing a mask. TouchID worked in all those situations, where, now, my iPhone won't unlock without ME altering my workflow to accomodate the bad design. That does NOT bring me enjoyment. You're right though, most consumers just adapt to the poor experience and say "Oh, I need to turn it this way to unlock it..."

It goes without saying that a single consumer decision to not purchase a phone is of no interest to Apple. But there are certainly others who feel the same way. When that segment of dissatisfied users becomes large enough, it can make a small, but measurable impact on sales.

Article is about deals on cases and watch bands. How you turned it into being about the camera bump and the phone wobbling (something that's been known since these phones came out 3 months ago) and your refusal to buy any of these models, is kind of strange and totally off-topic.

I’ll take a bigger camera bump if it means a higher quality camera
