I know my mac's rather old, but, it's my machine for the time being until I can afford a new mac. I replaced the hard drive back in october with a brand spankin' new 500gb hard drive. But then the optical drive over time went downhill and pretty much started giving me more coasters instead of discs (in addition to taking for-freaking-ever to read discs and/or copy from them). It's been quirky for a while, but now I can't even decently import cds into iTunes without it skipping all over the place. And frankly, the optical drive is old enough that I just want to go ahead and replace it.

What optical drive would ya'll recommend for this here older mac (remember, PATA/ATAPI/IDE, not SATA), and what vendor would you trust to purchase it from?

i have a G4 Mini and from the RAM upgrade videos online it looks like a standard DVD/CD drive. google for the videos and check out NewEgg. it's probably an IDE/ATAPI
