I am wanting a camera that can give me good results that has a great zoom ability. The two cameras I am looking at are the Canon SX40 and the Nikon P500. I've read several comparisons between the two. One rated the Nikon better. When I read the reasons why they rated it higher than the Canon - most of them had to do with the feel of the camera and the LCD screen. I don't like using the LCD myself, so that is really not much of an issue for me. I want to be able to take some good movies and get closer shots of things that are at a distance. I had originally started looking at a DSLR but those are probably too advanced for where I am now and I want something that I can take with me in a few weeks when I go on vacation.

Does anyone have experience with either or both of these cameras?
