I will be purchasing the soon-to-be-revised MBP 15" model. I want to find out retail outlets in Sydney, Australia that offer the best discounts.
The purchase will also include:
Wireless Mighty Mouse
Hard Drive upgrade (to 7,200RPM - currently 200GB)
Office 2008 for Mac Home and Student Edition
iWork '08 Edu Individual
AppleCare Protection Plan ( Extended Warranty)
For today's model the total would be over $3800 (including $300 educational discount).
I am a student, so the discount would have to be larger than the $300 student discount to be worthwhile. I have receipts from Next Byne and JB Hifi for a 160GB iPod Classic and 16GB iPod Touch (respectively) so perhaps that could help while negotiating at those stores. JB Hifi told me they could instantly knock half the price off the warranty and gurantee their price would be greater than the educational discount. Thanks for you advice!
