I'm going to the west coast in October. Taking my iPad for the first time, normally I take my MBP but I rarely use it.
After looking into it, I've settled on getting an AT&T data sim.
Would be interested in seeing if there is a different/better method, though

I picked up an Att&t sim for when we travel to the US it works out great, best value for traveling.
just remember to stop the auto renew before you leave, the account will stay active for 90 days after the 30 day usage expires but you can recreate the account and reuse the same sim next time you head down to the US
