In Windows (bootcamp) with Leopard, there is a tray icon with a command "restart the computer in OS X". When you clicked that, it would restart from Windows to OS X, without the need to choose at the start screen.

I was wondering if the same is possible in OS X but the other way around?

Officially no, not that I know of. But I made a simple AppleScript application which I gave a Windows icon and added it to the dock. You click it and it asks for password then restarts and boots into Windows.

If you like msg me and I'll send the script to you. someone else has probably made a better one publicly available

You could modify the script so that it doesn't ask you for the password by getting it to interface with keychain. However you would then want a confirm box so that you don't accidentally press it. So suppose swings and roundabouts.

Wow. Nice. You really should drop that onto Macupdate. Its not some big huge app but some of the best ones are some of the smallest.

While not a tray icon, you can avoid choosing at the start screen from OS X by going to System Preferences > Startup Disk > Click Windows and restart.
