So a few months ago, my Shortcuts app became extremely laggy. Somewhere in the midst of iOS 16. Freezing up every 5-10 seconds for 5-10 seconds no matter what part of the app I was in. Whether scrolling the main page or creating a shortcut, etc. Came across a few posts on Reddit where others are having the same issue. I tried deactivating advanced data protection and removing it from iCloud sync. Also deleting and reinstalling the app. Didn’t help.

Last night I decided to just delete every shortcut I have, one by one, hoping one of them was causing this issue. Well, that didn’t help but now the app is saying I have 750 shortcuts in the all shortcuts tab. Only thing I can physically see are the suggested app shortcuts that can’t be deleted. 14 of those in total (voice memos, Starbucks, lock launcher, books, etc). Is this taking into account all the gallery shortcuts or is my shortcuts app just completely screwed?

try this: turn off wifi and bluetooth. then set the date manually to the 18th of juli 2024. Wait 5 minutes. Then restart your iPhone. After log on, set the date to the 24th of july 2023. wait 5 minutes. Restart. log on, activate wifi and bluetooth, open the Shortcuts app. Check.

this procedure is not necessary. This basically forces iOS/iPadOS to delete various temporary files, delete and rebuild part of the system cache. One effect is shrinking the system data part, another is rebuilding the cache for various Apple apps incl. Shortcuts.

Even easier, delete the Shortcut app. Then restart and reinstall via appstore.

After all that, can I top off with adding the correct date?

Well I was able to clear out that “750” from All Shortcuts by deleting the apps that showed up in the App Shortcuts section. Progress I guess. Was hoping that would end the freezing up but it didn’t 😞

Indeed you can. Forgot to add that, no need to live a week in the future 😂🤓

As I wrote, the date setting procedure removes iOS/iPadOS temp/cache files and rebuilds them.

There is no way to not let an app, which supports it, register with Shortcuts AFAIK.

Which version of iO 16 are you using?
