I am looking for two specific shortcuts:

1. I need to get top the top of my inbox quickly, espeically after a search through my mail. I have few thousand mails to scroll through at times the touch pad scrolling just not getting the job done right.

2. Is there a way to change the shortcut to the finding bar. Currently, it's option - command - F. I would like to change it to command - K. I have successfully changed itwith safari but I don't know how to do it for mail.

That is one thing from iOS that I miss on OS X. Clicking on the top of a long list or browser window snaps be back to the top. There are a number of 3rd party browsers on iOS where this doesn't work and I haven't noticed anything like this on OS X just yet.

I would think you could create an Applescript to get you to the top of your inbox. I'm not sure if you can tie it to a keyboard shortcut or perhaps add an icon or menu item to Mail.app but I'm pretty sure you can get a script to do this behavior for you. Try running AppleScript Editor pick "show dictionary" and browse the dictionary for mail.app. The feature you're looking for might be easy to find.

So is there a way to get to the top for mail app?

As for the jump to search, I did it to safari via keyboard shortcut in settings.

Something like this:

But I don't know what the search bar is called for Mail.

Are you using a standard keyboard?

Home: <command> + arrow key up
End: <command> + arrow key down

I have a MBP 10' on Lion. I tried CMD + up/down it doesnt work.

I tried using BTT to bind the home key in this case it does work. Though I am still looking for native solutions as I don't want to have application conflicts.

You know, you could use Google too...

For "Home", try "Fn + Left Arrow". For the "End", try "Fn + Right Arrow".

close search

Does anyone know a shortcut to close out the search feature? After I search for an email, I do not want to drag the pointer to close the search bar every time I finish searching. Is there a shortcut to exit search?
