I've just switched to windows. How do I invoke a keyboard shortcut without opening a menu first? For example in WordPad to do SaveAs, I click "file" then tap the keyboard letter "A". How do I just make it do the SaveAs using a key combination without opening menus first?

if you hold down "alt" (option if using a mac keyboard) Windows will show you all sorts of kb commands.

Also as a general rule, all of the typical commands done by pressing the command key; e.g. "cmd + C" for copy is the same in windows except you press ctrl instead of cmd.

The nice thing about Windows is that you can pretty much get away using it without a mouse at all if you know what you're doing.
