Hello to everyone,

i know that on this forum there is many skilled technicians about the hardware inside Macbooks, so i open this technical discussion.

It happened that i have received two macbook air, one had water spill over the motherboard, the other one had soda (coke) on the mb.
I have already repaired many laptops, mobile phones, and a pair of macbook pro. So i have followed the typical procedure of component testing.

Those two MBA have the same problem, a short on those lines :

PPVCORE_S0_CPU
PP1V05_S0_CPU_VCCIO
PPVCORE_S0_CPU_VCCAXG
PP1V5_S3_CPU_VCCDDR

At first, i have tought that some capacitors was short on those lines, even if it was strange that so many capacitors will burn together in the same time.
More curious thing is that there is no water damage or water signs over those capacitors.

At this point, i start to believe that the CPU have internal shorts, but you think this is possible ?

Over and around the cpu there is no water damage, i had cleaned water signs only around backlight chip and the near components.

I can remove and resolder cpu and southbridge, but i want to be sure that i have checked everything before doing that.

thank for your help
Dave
