I plugged my firewire cable into my firewire port and the computer turned off instantly. I discovered a piece fo metal connecting two of the pins. That firewire port does not work now, it still gives power nad can still recognise my iPod for example.

Is this very difficult to get fixed?

Well considering the port is connected to the motherboard...well, you're lucky it didn't burn up the whole motherboard (not mention your house). It might be cheaper to buy a firewire hub.

cheers!

i heard on the MacAddict board that the
PowerBooks have a common problem with
burnt out firewire ports.
