Shorter Text Tones for iPhone

Anyone know how to add text tones that are less than 2-3 seconds long? I hate the available text tones the iPhone currently has (sorry but they sound like a 5 year old made them!).

Anyway, I found some nice ones online but when I add them to my phone (via synching), they don't show up on my phone.

I can see the ones that are longer though. Any ideas around how I can add the shorter ones?

Check that link. It is for creating ringtones but can apply to anything. I believe if your created tone is less than 15 seconds in length then it will be available for text tone, email alert, and calendar alerts as well as anything else.

I know it works as I'm using old Zelda and Mario Bros. sounds for my alerts.
