I bought two 30W ravpower chargers in prep for my phone hopefully arriving tomorrow, but read a tidbit yesterday that the OEM 20W charger is faster than higher watt 3rd party chargers.

Could there be any possible truth to this?

I'm protesting apples decision to remove the charger from the box so do not plan on purchasing the OEM charger unless there is a massive performance gain versus 3rd party.

Thats not true, as long as the charger supports the PD (power delivery) protocol then you will get 20+W charging. I didn't check for any tests yet on the iPhone 12 but last years iPhone 11 actually can pull 22+W charging so you may get a bit faster charging from the Ravpower adapter.
