It makes zero sense to continue the E series when it's a bad deal now that the regular 17 is far superior for only $200. While an iPhone 18 Mini's only difference would be Display Size / Less Battery but everything else the same as the future regular 18 including the 120hz display...Maybe starting at $699 as the new STARTER / Base iPhone instead of a Crippled/Budget smartphone.
This year's base iPhone 17 is a great value and I truly believe many people would be very happy to have the option of a Mini Sized version of it's successor in the future 😁 iPhone 17 Mini / iPhone 17 regular = Spring 2027 while Fall 2026 iPhone Air / Pros.
It makes way more sense that way.

The 16e isn't a good value, but it's not poor value either.

If someone appreciates the bigger main sensor and ultrawide lens, then iPhone 17 is a better deal. Otherwise, there's a lot of seniors, students, and first time smartphone users who don't need the extra camera or 256GB.

The iPhone 12/13 mini were each sold for two years. It was a commercial failure at $599/$699. Why would an 18 mini be any different?

Because many people are tired from carrying big and heavy devices.

And 16e has better value unless you need the additional camera that the 17 have.
