Should Apple licence its OS?

Would you think its would be a good idea for Apple to licence its Operating System like Microsoft does?

I would think it would be good for Apple if big names like Dell and Sony use the OS and sell more Macs. The only downside i see is that apple would lose out on the hardware with the extra competition.

So what do you think?
