With Gmail discontinuing Exchange support the only way to get push Gmail is through the Gmail app- but the notifications the app sends don't disappear from the lock screen when a message is read on another device. Leaving a cluttered lock screen of already read email. (Using Exchange, these clear away when read)

I'm wondering, if Apple supported IMAP IDLE like the Mac Mail app on the iPhone if that would allow us get get push Gmail though the iPhone mail app. Any idea why they don't support IMAP IDLE?

I just noticed that Exchange was disabled today when exchanged my phone due to a camera flaw and it stopped working with my restored iCloud backup (apparently Google has disabled it on new devices only). For now I'll go back to IMAP and just not have access to push email but hopefully Apple will eventually provide a workaround. For now it kind of stinks, and I don't want to use Google's app.
