May be a silly question, but before I take it back, should both of the speakers work (either side of the cable connector)?

Only 1 is working on my iPhone!

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5A347 Safari/525.20)

you mean the speaker and the microphone?

seriously?
SEARCH!!!!!!
this has been asked about a thousand times! not only for the iphone 3g, but for the original one as well
its in the iphone manual as well
even apples website shows it

it doesn't have 2 speakers. One is a microphone, the other a speaker. Good thing you asked before getting pwnd at the apple store.

Great pics to show the description.

Honestly, I know everyone is trying to go "green" and protect the environment but I think Apple should include a paper owners manual instead of a PDF file you can download when it comes to the iPhone. If people had a manual that they could physically hold, than maybe questions like these would ceased to be asked.

I'm convinced that the forum search feature is broke, putting in a request to have it checked.;)
We know its not the users fault as after reading the manual and checking the Apple iPhone support site and NOT finding the answer...

Whats that address to Mr Job directly? Apple needs to correct the manual so people are aware there is NOT 2 speakers at the bottom.
/end sarcasm

I would have to open up my box and look to be sure, but im almost 100% sure it does!

I have to admit, back in november when i first got my iphone i asked this exact same question. embarrassing:eek:

I think this should be a forum sticky!

I just realized on the first gen phone we have 4 speakers!!
can you say quadraphonic sound...
Can someone confirm this is still true on the 3g models?

my god, there is at least 2 or 3 of these threads per day now it seems. this is one of many problems with making the up front price of the iPhone affordable- every idiot in town is going to get one, have no clue about any aspect of it, and then complain instantly like this without doing some research and finding out the features of their tech item.

can we get a sticky that just has the title "THERE IS ONLY 1 SPEAKER ON YOUR IPHONE"

The iPhone only has 2 speakers and not 3, 1 on the ear piece and one on the bottom. You are mistaken in thinking there are 3.

Just kidding.....:eek:I have seen this question asked toooooo many times to give it a real answer, ahhh the beauty of "search".

No....but there should be one that has the title "THERE IS ONLY 1 SPEAKER ON THE BOTTOM OF YOUR IPHONE"...since that is accurate...your's is not since there are in fact 2 speakers on the entire iPhone. As pointed out by several people in the thread already.

Honestly they just need to create an FAQ or add FAQ's to the iphone super sticky...which...when I look at it...isn't all that super. Seems like it has been forgotten about.
