Should deleted messages mirror across devices?

I have iMessage running on a few of my devices (iPhone, iPad and Mac etc) and I'd like to know; if I delete a message on one device, should all my devices then mirror that deletion and remove the message(s) from the device?

For example, I delete a message from Mr Smith on my iPhone, should it still appear on my Mac messages?

At the moment, messages are not mirroring for me in terms of deleting them.
