Well when I bought my MacBook Pro I thought it was going to be made in the United States, but I checked on my FedEx tracking number and it turns out the laptop was made in China.

Should I be concerned?
Will this effect the overall quality? (Things made in China tend to fall apart.)
Are all MacBooks made in China? My iPod touch was made in Sacramento, CA according to FedEx.
:confused::eek:

hehe.. It's assembled in China from parts around the world (mainly china, singapore, taiwan, etc)

all their products are. When was the last USA made apple machine? 198X?

I'm not aware of any Apple products not made in China.

I'm not aware of any television sets by any manufacturer not made in China.

I'm not too aware of electronics devices in general not made in China.

Your iPod was made in China. It may have been shipped from a warehouse in the US if you didn't have any configure to order options.

If your iPod touch had been made in Sacramento, California, it probably would have cost about $5,000. lol

You should be worried. Everything Made in China is a POS!
Disclaimer: Joke and I'm Chinese.

This is almost too cute to mock. ;)
Your product is going to be ok. However, since they moved to assembly in China quality has degraded a bit imho.

Living in Taiwan I can tell you even the Taiwanese don't trust products made in China, but the Taiwanese electronics industry I have to say is quality and their actually very proud of their industry here.

I would always buy Taiwanese.

I tried to adopt Taiwanese once. After I told the agency I wanted to adopt a Taiwanese baby over any other baby because they were built well they never called me back.

I still write letters to the agency asking them to reconsider. Soon enough I'll be too old to pour my own drinks and I'll need a capable person to help me.

For those hyper-sensitive people please note I am kidding, unless you support my efforts, then I am not kidding all that much.

You know, I was actually thinking 'bloody hell another crazy American, why doesn't this surprise me?...' and then I noticed the small print!

Hahaha!

i think there is a certain misconception that goods made in China are crap. Sure, there are horrible factories which make toothbrushes that choke you or exploding usb sticks but let me ask you this.....

do you think Apple will pick just any old chinese company to manufacture their products? I don't think so. Their rep is on the line if they just go for the cheapest.

And like someone said earlier..all the parts that make up your mac are made around the world anyways. China just assembles them.

On a separate note: it was quite refreshing to know my ACD was assembled in Korea lol :D

Taiwan = Asus = eee baby

The Warren Jeffs FLDS compound joke is really close and in bad taste, but they tend to like homemade anyways.

It doesn't matter where things are made. The worker puts component A into component B. It only goes in one way. The workers are not given choices.

In the end, it is the design of the product and the choice of materials.

The politics of sending work overseas to avoid taxes and environmental issues is another matter.

This is one of the most epic troll posts I have ever read on a message board.

Agreed, EXCEPT you're leaving out quality control. That's always going to vary, and sad to say vary mostly by price, between assembly points. If Apple's agreement with whatever factory they're using calls for high levels of inspection, etc. etc. then we're going to get a good product no matter where that factory is. A Taiwan or Japan factory with poor QC is going to give us an inferior product. And it's clear that the level of QC is a choice that the company farming out the assembly can, and will, make, whether it's entertainment components, computers, cars...everything, even including food products. A high level of QC costs more, period.
