Just got my new Mac Mini M1

I did the public beta upgrade to Big Sur 11.2 as I saw many videos and conversations saying that it corrected Bluetooth and UWS monitor display issues...

...and it has. No Bluetooth dropouts. The Mini instantly recognized my 46" Widescreen display.

The problem is restarts

Every time I restart my M1 it doesn't automatically connect to my Logitech Bluetooth keyboard. I have to plug in an old Apple keyboard to type in my password. From that point, my wireless Logitech keyboard is recognized.

Just strange that I have to plug in a keyboard at every reboot just to enter my password.

Any way this can be corrected?

Thanks in advance for the assistance

Do you have FileVault turned on? If you do, the initial boot is to the recovery volume where the password screen is presented. The problem is the Logitech drivers don't run when booted to that recovery volume, so the KB won't work.

Aaah, yes I do. And now that you mention it, there was a quick message when I installed the Logitech keyboard about Firevault but I was too busy working on other things.

I will turn that off and expect the problem to be resolved.

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond and offer that advice. You really helped me out of a predicament.

Thanks

Curious as to why you reboot. I do it so rarely I can’t remember the last time I did it (to move my computer back upstairs after the heat of summer?)

New Mac Mini. Have to install programs that require a reboot

Yes!

I just did an 11.2 update and had to reboot and the Bluetooth keyboard connects instantly now that FireVault is disabled.

That's great to hear! I'm almost convinced about the M1. Any other (major) problems that problems you run into?

Nope.

I am very happy with this baby. It's my first Mini and I am impressed with its performance.

Yeah, it only caps out at 16GB but I'll end up selling this when the next iteration comes out, most likely 2022.

Awesome :)

Same here, the M1 will be an in between solution, but I recon the Mini will be the last to be replaced by Apple, so you will probably still be able to sell it for a nice price in 2022.
