If you're already eligible for the student discount, you wouldn't save anything. If you aren't, then I believe you would get whatever the student price is. So whether it is worth it or not depends on your situation.

Does amazon usually have a lower price on these on black friday?

I'm looking to get one of them as well.

It depends on the model and year. Sometimes, yes. Sometimes it will be a another $20-$30 off. Say like if right now one is $70 off, it might be $100 off on black friday.

There are never any guarantees though.

It's hard to say, the discount on Black Friday tends to vary (if there is one offered at all); chances are that you'd be looking at a $50 to $100 savings at the very most.

I always recommend buying on need and not basing your decision on potential savings (unless it is a substantial amount) or a potential refresh -- so if you need a new computer now, then buy one now.

Hope that helps, have a great day. :)

I bought my 2010 base 15" from Amazon on BF weekend. The price on BF was about $1,650 but I hesitated and the price went up slightly the next day to $1,670 so I purchased and got it the next Tuesday. On Monday the price went up to about $1,700. Currently, amazon has them for $1710 with no tax and free shipping in most states.

Very strong chance of savings on Black Friday from Apple or at the very least from other sellers.

I'm not in a rush. I'll wait until black friday and hopefully save another $50-$100

Keep in mind, if you go with Amazon even now but on black friday weekend too, they are in the return window right now of January 31.

That way, if something goes wrong, or it isn't opened for a while (holiday gift), you can return it until late January.
