I am looking to buy an aftermarket battery...I just want to know if it is a good idea or not?

Any thoughts???

can you tell me where can I buy them from? Apple stores are pretty expensive.

thanks

If you want an Apple branded battery, then you'll have to stick to Apple or its retailers, and the price will be the same everywhere (so... the same as the Apple store...).
There are no cheap nor expensive Apple branded batteries... it's the same price everywhere, sorry, but that's how it works.

You could always buy an aftermarket battery... although Apple will not cover any damage (obviously), but if you buy one made but a decent manufacturer (note that Apple doesn't manufacture the batteries... it's another company...), you shouldn't have any problem.

I purchased a cheap $40 chinese knock off from eBay, after about 5 or 6 charges, the capacity was down to 1500 mAh and after about 20 charges, it was dead completely. The battery would charge for 30-40 minutes after being unplugged by accident and immediately plugged back in, probably burned it out.

By the real thing, it's not worth buying something thats going to junk out, and wind up being money tossed in the garbage.
