Can someone outline why people want an unlocked iPhone to run on a different UK.

For example, if I'm on Vodafone and I get an unlocked iPhone are there not high costs for using their 3G Network etc. I don't think you get the visual voicemail either do you?

I have seen this deal on eBay Uk. What do you guys think?

eBay: 150315571859

Let's use this scenario as to why some people might want an unlocked iPhone.

Mr X is on Vodafone, and very happy with the deal that vodafone give him, but, he would like an iPhone to make this complete. Now, Mr X is in the middle of an 18month contract, and not really wanting to wait 9months for an iPhone, but also not wanting to cancel his Vodafone service incurring heavy penalty in early termination fees, to move to o2 to get an iPhone, he would like an unlocked one and perhaps add a data plan to his vodafone service.

yeah?

But please be weary of that auction, the picture does not depict an iPhone 3G, but a first gen iPhone unit.
