Hello,

I'm seeing an very good deal ipad2 from craigslist this morning and planning to buy but don't know how to check its warranty and if it is the stolen one or not

Does ipad have some kind of serial somewhere that I can check warranty and stolen product, etc ?

I bought a second hand iPad from eBay and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Not only is it pretty much in mint condition, all my mates have even said that it looks brand new, but I also got it cheaper. Love it : )

Note wrong with second hand hardware providing you do your research with the seller and of course you read the description properly and carefully.

No.

There is nothing wrong with Craigslist if you do your due diligence and recognize that if a deal sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.

But, I never buy electronic devices secondhand. These are sensitive things that you don't want to take a chance with. Spend a bit more and get it from a reputable retailer. You'll have peace of mind and a warranty backing you up.

What would happen if I accidentally buying an stolen ipad from craigslist ? will apple lock my device and or any future update ?

I bought my iPad from craigslist and I haven't had any issues with it. I met at a local bookstore and there I checked the warranty in front of them on my cell phone and just visually inspected everything else.

I would say as long as it has warranty, it's a pretty safe purchase. I wouldn't purchase it if there was no warranty. You just never know.

with serial you only can see how long warranty is apple doesnt care it is stolen or not. but you can ask the seller when he bought the ipad and with serial number you can check if he is telling the truth or not.

If you want a screen someone has wiped there filthy hands on, sweat dirt or what have you smeared all over it, maybe even touched while sitting on the potty by all means go for it.

I found iPad on Craigslist. Met the seller in person. Inspect the iPad, receipt, charger, etc. Once everything passed the inspection, paid and it is all mine!

I bought my iPad on craigslist. The seller had the box, the original receipt and a nice leather Sena case. The iPad was perfect. I got a really good vibe fom the guy. It was one of my best purchases to date. :)

I've sold my first iPad on craigslist, the buyer was surprised I had the box, and all the original packaging with it too. :D

only the police would care if you buy stolen property ... even then they might not pursue the issue... Apple does not care ... stolen iPads means more sales

If it's a good deal go for it. I'll reiterate what everyone else said, meet in a public place, check warranty. You'll be fine. I just bought an iPad 1 64gb brand new off craigs for 450. Good deal.. At least I think so.
