I need some help, I was about to buy a dual 2.8 processor mac pro last yesterday for 2,700, but now these new ones came out. And i dunno 3,200 bucks for 2.26 ghz sounds like a downgrade, but im not a computer professional just a college student who needs to learn final cut studio in order to get a job. So my question is should i get this new mac pro or try to get the 2008 one from amazon? Thank You

The new ones have an entirely different architecture. It makes the processors and overall system waaay more efficient, which is why their clock speeds are slower, but the performance is much better. Remember back a few years when we had all the hoopla around the "MHz Myth"? Same thing here.

But to answer your question, as a student, grab the previous gen one because it costs less. Net cost is the key when you're a student.
