Im a college student at uc davis and my wallet is ready as soon as the new mbp is announced. my guess is that the apple store won't have em in tommorow by tuesday so would it better for me to order online and im up north so do u guys think it might ship here faster than me waiting for the store having em in stock?

sorry for the runn off

San Francisco usually has the stuff the day of. But you will be receiving your online order from the same place everyone else does, so being in NorCal doesn't really have too much of an advantage I don't think. I think it'll be fastest to go to a store.

Built to order. I don't about what stores will have it or not man. I know you're excited but these are just questions that no one will know until mid-day tomorrow. So just be patient for another 24 hours.

Check the current MBP specs. If you are happy not making any changes (BTO), you can bet you will buy a stock model tomorrow because it will (likely) have better specs.

Consider the Academic discount

If you want the academic discount you may have to purchase either from the college store, or on-line. The savings is certainly worth the wait.

dont they offer the academic discount at the apple store too?

I understand your impatience, but I'd counsel waiting just a few weeks more, in other words, until a few weeks after the updates/upgrades have come out, in order to allow Apple time to iron out any inevitable glitches which, more than likely, will appear in the new models.
Cheers

Ignore the wimps. Buy day one.

The retail stores will have them shortly after the announcement, assuming Apple is planning on making them available immediately. My experience with the online store after a model upgrade is that it is slow. If you don't care that you get your computer for a week or more, order online. Retail stores will have it and you can walk out with a standard build immediately.
