I just ordered an M1 Macbook Pro 13". Should I cancel the order until after WWDC21? I've never messed with Mac before and I've always been a PC/Droid user so I'm not familiar with the brand. Thought I may ask random people on the internet what they think.

First of all, welcome to MacRumors! We have an awesome community here :)

It depends on what you’re looking for / want in a laptop. We know the feature set of the upcoming MacBook Pros pretty well based on rumors from people ‘in the know,’ but we also know they’re going to be several hundred dollars more expensive than the MBP you just ordered.

There will likely be a new model which has the following compared to the machine you ordered:
  • 14” screen - larger screen with smaller bezels
  • Mini-LED is a possibility - this would provide improved contrast and peak HDR brightness. Rumors are swaying back and forth on this one so it’s not a guarantee, but I suspect it is coming
  • Touch Bar removed, replaced with full-size Function Keys
  • New design (first time it has changed in a while)
  • More ports - HDMI, SD card slot, MagSafe (!!!) all returning
  • Improved CPU/GPU performance (10-core CPU and option of 16/32 GPU cores)
  • Capable of speccing to higher storage (8TB?) and RAM (64GB) configurations
  • Starting at $500-600 more than your 13” M1 MBP started at
  • ~July availability but likely limited stock at launch
If this sounds appealing to you then I would cancel your order and wait for Monday. If you’re not a ’gotta have the newest and best and nicest’ kind of guy and don’t have the need for a crazy powerful CPU/GPU, and want to save some money, your M1 MBP will be an incredible machine for many years. Personally, I would cancel and wait.

Cool thanks for the welcome and the feedback!

I'm not in the "latest and greatest" camp so I may just stick with what I bought. I personally like the idea of the touch bar, and hopefully I'll continue to like it once I'm actually using it. I have a couple of beefy windows machines for gaming (and working from home) but I just decided to give Apple a try after hearing people rave over them for years and my job has a "Bring Your Own Notebook" program that pays for almost half of the cost of the one that I bought.

Plus, I'm just super excited to mess with Garageband and the MBP in general! I know that may seem silly, maybe I've been stuck inside for TOO long.

If Apple introduces an model that replaces the model of MacBook Pro you ordered you can just exchange it. No big deal.
