Hello

I have a Samsung T7 Shield SSD attached to an M1 mini. It's a USB-C drive so MacOS does not send TRIM commands to it. I do use the drive rather heavily, doing compiles and also transferring of large video files. Should I use `sudo trimforce enable`? Would that help keeping the drive healthy or only make it worse?

Thanks

Samsung T7 Shield does not support trim or SMART with macOS. macOS does not support these features over USB. There is a third-party open source SAT SMART over USB driver for macOS but this only works with SATA based external USB drives. The T7 is NVMe based USB drive and no SMART over USB driver for macOS exists for NVMe drives. If you want trim and SMART support, you'll need a Thunderbolt external enclosure.
