i recently bought a 16GB (engraved) touch off the apple online store and everything appears to be fine except now the glass on the screen seems to be 'loose' (when i press on it it makes a clicking sound and if you look from the side you can see the glass depress father into the iPod when you press on it)
i've never dropped it and it is is great condition (no scratches or anything), my question is should i send it into apple? and the other question being will i be able to exchange it for a new one because it is engraved?

thanks in advance

With a problem like that, I would bring it into Apple. As to if they swap it, fix it, or whatever, I think that Apple will probably just give you a different iPod, but it just won't have an engraving. But I am not exactly sure how they deal with exchanges regarding products with engravings.

I believe if it's engraved they'll engrave the replacement iPod with the same text.

ok ill call apple now, thanks for the quick replys :)

hey cameron.ob, I have the same problem with the loose screen. For me it's on the top left corner! I was just wondering what did you end upp doing? What did Apple do to help you?

Thanks!

hmm I notice this too on the top left corner. When I press against the screen it sinks in. Just bought the ipod touch 2g yesterday :(

oh well I still love it

same problem here...

screen makes SRKRRRK SKRRRK SKRRR sounds :) when touching...(PUSHING)

UPS picked it up today, they will make it iff possible if not ill get a new one...

but when i pushed hard on the screen is was ok for a couple of hours / a day..

I just called Apple and told them about it and they're sending me an empty box via DHL to put my iPod in so they can repair it for me. They had told me to take it in to the Apple store but the closest one here is 2 hours away lol so then they said they'll ship it to me and ship it back. I have no idea why the screen is loose because many people are having the same problem so I've heard.

Mine just arrived at Apple in Elk Grove, CA today, I'm just awaiting some news. They gave you a new/or refurbished one when all you did is send it for repair? and how loose was your screen when you sent it in?

yes, screen was not really loose...

when pushing hard on the screen it made a KRR KRR sound...

but only for 5 sec... than after a day it was back

UPS picked it up on monday (late!!) and early today (thursday) UPS brought a new one :)

netherlands...

Okay, I'm really mad. I noticed today on the Repair Status page when you put it your repair ID number it came back saying "No Trouble Found" "Original Product Shipped" so then I called Apple and I had a long day on the phone with them and I don't see how blind the repair center could be saying there is no problem found when clearly the screen is loose. Why would I bother sending Apple my iPod and wasting there and my time over nothing? ...

After a long day with them, I finally made progress and got transferred to a "product specialist?" so after a big talk with them, I'm getting a new ipod. Although the process is rather ridiculous...

Once I get back the one they shipped to me that read "No trouble found" I have to call them and then they send me ANOTHER empty box to put that ipod back in, and then when they get that back then they send me a new one.

I'm honestly fed up with Apple customer service, there all a*s*o*e* and there rude and treat customers or at least me like complete sh*t. lol just the other day I was called a lier by one of there representatives and today I was told with the person I talked to that she didn't have a supervisor nor did any other of the people and that she couldn't transfer my call and overall she was a dumbass who didn't no jack sh*t.

You certainly have no problem spelling the curse words correctly, learn to spell the nice words correctly before posting your next rant.:p

im not here to argue and debate about who could spell what right, im here to discuss the thread "Should I exchange my new iPod touch?". It's not my fault that Apple can't open there eyes and look and I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had problem with apple before.

Apple is known to fight people on returns. It has happened to a lot of people if you read the boards. You just have to be persistent. Some employees will do whatever they can so that your defective product is not replaced.

i got my ipod back today and now instead of them just not repairing it, now it's scratched up to hell lol, i take this really entertaining because i'm so frustrated and fed up with apple. But i'm always a little hesitant sending my units in if i have to even if it is to the manufacture so i actually took pictures of it before i sent it off with the date and time and all that info on it, will this help any? because the way i see it, i paid all that money for an ipod thats scratched up/has a loose screen and no one from apple is helpful, what can I do? Ever since i purchased this ipod i've had protection on front, back, and the side rails so when I sent it in the appearance looked absolutely new and shinny as when you first purchase it but now when i got it back it doesnt have that shine and its scratched up bad...

Wow, that seriously sucks. I just ordered a 2nd generation itouch with an engraving on it. I just hope I dont have any problems with it when I receive it because the return/warranty policy sounds like hell.

Better to buy at a B&M store with an easy return policy (no engraving possible unfortunately...)

Why would you be pushing on the screen so hard anyway?
