The device is 51 weeks old, has gone through 88 battery cycles and performs flawlessly, so I'm not sure whether it is worth it or not to pay out anymore money.

I can see my using it another year before upgrading on the Apple front; I still have Android devices I use.

I never use extended warranties on my phones, but if it gives you peace of mind, go for it.

You can't extend the warranty through Apple. You have to add AppleCare+ in the first 60 days. You may already have 2 years of coverage. Many credit cards double the manufacturers warranty. :apple:

Not sure I understand this - when I bought the phone I was planning on keeping it - it was unlocked.

Okay, so that means you will keep it for a long time, so try to see if you can extend it.

That's all it meant.

Advising you to extend the warranty of your iPhone 5, because when you want to sell it it will gives you a good resell value.

You've had it almost a year and there are only 88 charge cycles??? I would say forget the warranty, you hardly use the thing and it's still almost new. My iPhone 5 is two weeks older than yours and it has 635 charge cycles...

How is that app called? I´d also like to read out the cycles of my refurbished Iphone 5.

Yeah, I bought it second-hand and unlocked in May..it only had 45 charge cycles on it then.

The app which shows charge cycles/capacity - for those interested - is called Battery Doc. It's featured on the iPhone 5 battery degradation thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1665221/
