i'm heading over to boston a week sunday and am wondering wether i should buy an unlocked iphone? has anyone here bought an unlocked one? if so how much was it???

I just got back from New York and yeah I bought one 2 days ago for $500. They normally cost $400 minus tax from apple or at&t but i bought mine unlocked hence the extra $100. I would say go for it if you can unlock it yourself or get someone to do it for you.

ATT Stores are now stocking 1.1.1 iPhones.
I know there's apparently some new work-around with Safari or something, but I'd look into that.

Yes, if you do decide to get one, make sure that it is the old firmware.
