did it say how long? i have to wait til my next paycheck in about 2 weeks til i get enough money to buy one. i saw some on ebay that were 16gb for like $320.. they are getting rid of the 8s?

Don't wait for a hardware update, it most likely won't even bring many new things. Get a 16GB iPod touch now, because if you have 1400 songs those won't even fit on an 8GB.

thats what i was thinking.. that the update wouldnt be that different. and if i really wanted it im sure they would have a download, like the one for the old ipod touches for the 2.0 software.
and i thought 8gb holds 1750-2000 songs..

Buy refurbished. ;)

I got an 8GB since I do not have any podcasts or videos. I only have like 3-4GB of music and that is high quality. I recently compressed all that music to less its quality for my Sony PSP and I could not tell a difference in sound quality, honestly. So I might compress the music the same amount and put it on the touch. 8GB was great for me since I do not do podcasts or videos.

If you must buy now get a refurbished one for $199 (8GB) or $299 (16GB).

Full 1 year warranty and the two nanos and one touch that my family has bought were like new.

Why do people always ask this question concerning memory? YOU BUY THE MOST MEMORY YOU CAN COMFORTABLY AFFORD! It has been the same answer for the last 20 years, doesn't matter what the product is.

well excuse me..
i wish for the memory that suits me best.
im not going to get an ipod that way too much just because i can afford it..
im just unsure if the 8gb would be too tight of a sqeeze..

sounds good! if i was then id definitely get the 16gb
i just hope it would reliable and nice..
i was really hoping not to spend much more than 300 on one
my moms giving me 150 intrade of my old ipod

first of all dont buy ebay. apple refurb sotre has a 16 gig for 300 and a 8 gig for 200. But if i were you i would get the 16. I had a 30 gig video then went to a 8 gig and didnt have enough. Now im on a 32 gig touch

iTunes displays how much memory your library takes up.

If you are uncomfortable making playlists (even random ones where iTunes does it for you) and need to carry all your music with you all the time, then you need a lot of memory.

If, however, you don't mind carrying around only about a thousand songs at a time, the 8GB is fine.

so 16 gb refurbished it is
thanks! :)
i cant believe i didnt think/know about those
i only enter the apple website everday when i come on safari.. wow

I think this is a good choice.

I have a 16 gb and it serves me well, I don't fill it up all the time but I like having the extra space. I think I'd be squeezed with 8 gb
