I have a 2009 17" MBP that has had power issues for a while. If I close the screen to put it to sleep, if I open it and it's not connected to a power source, it turns off. Then, when I restart it, I usually have to hit power a few times as it starts but cuts. Rarely, but occasionally, the power just shuts down complete even when plugged in.

4 times i have brought this into the apple store and they have been unable to fix the problem. One time, they even took it apart and built it back piece by piece to find a problem but they were unable to. It's possible it's a software problem.....but given the symptoms I'm describing...Ive kind of ruled that out.

So, am I stuck with it? Is there anything left to do? Is it worth taking it to a non-Apple repair person? should I reinstall the operating system thinking that might solve it? I'm at a bit of a loss for my next move. I'm thinking I'll need to buy a new one, but maybe I shouldnt give up hope that it's fixable.
