From what I understand, one of prerequisits for installing iOS5 is you being a developer.

If you are not, then it's not worth Beta testing.

It's not only 'not worth Beta testing', it's not possible, unless another developer breaks the rules.

What does this phrase mean?

It's not an upgrade from 4.3.3, it's a reinstall using the beta version of iTunes. Yes, you can downgrade by doing a factory Restore from the beta version of iTunes.

Is it 'worth the hassle'? If you are a developer, you'd already know the answer to this question.

As in putting it on for the new features I realise it's only beta but I'm like trying new things

Cheers for that I'm a bit slow on the uptake , I assume I can install but without developer activation I would loose 3G capability

AFAIK, you will not be able to get past the initial iPad set up screen since that's where the developer activation happens.

All sorted developer account purchased installed and activated now lets play cheers for the help

I don't know why these nasty comments are always popping up whenever anyone asks about installing ios5, you'd better be a devloper, you have no right to do that, blah, blah blah.....get off your high horses snobby geek people. Leave em alone!

If some one wantsto pay the hundred bucks and reas the material, install the beta and play around with, so the ***** what!

Who do you people think you are castigating these people from participation in the beta, why not consider leaving them alone and minding your own business. And don't respond to the threads.

If your too high up on the developer food chain to answer their simple questions, then don't. You feel it more satisfying to belittle these folks who are interested and curious in participating in the program and who most pay their dues, just like you all. Who know the hell knows, maybe they'll become actual developers after this experience.

Rest of drunken spew deleted.

No one was nasty to anyone. Since when is stating the requirements being nasty? Please go back to only posting about Mophie.

P.S. - Please do not drink and post.

You can install it and use it without being a dev (opened can of worms). I have not done this because I don't want a buggy OS, and it seems pretty pointless, but it can be done :)
