Yes, I'm a newbie. I searched for this particular question and didn't find it -
Yesterday, I found a MacBookPro Mc 118LL/A for $1299. In the box, never opened. I bought it but before I open it, I just want to make sure it was the right thing.
It's my first notebook, I need something basic, in a few years if I love it - I'll probably upgrade.
It has a 15.4" screen, 4 GB, (only) 250 mb HD. No Firewire - is that a deal breaker?
Thanks for your help!! ;)
I'll take it back for a refund if I screwed up!

Awesome machine, will do you very good. They run about a 1000 used so i would say you got a good deal new.

Its a good deal, I'd keep it. That model does have a firewire port, I'm not sure why you don't think it does

Great feedback

As I had written, I'm so new to Macs that I don't know my ass. Your comments have been helpful and they encourage me to jump in with both feet. I guess I knew this was a good buy but that isn't always a reason to do it.
I need to learn about my new Mac and return to the forum.
Again - thanks
PS- I didn't think I had firewire because that's what the sales dude was saying. He wanted to buy it for himself if I wasn't going to take it.
