Awhile ago I had a long thread describing my photography background, but I couldn't find it.
Anyway, I will be going to Salt Lake City, Utah for a semester of awesome skiing and yes even school!
I wanted a digital camera for christmas so that I can take plenty of pictures and keep in touch with freinds back home.
I was originally thinking the Canon A520 because it has manual controls. I currently own a canon film SLR - the T2. I eventually would like a Canon digital SLR, but for now a small point and shoot I could keep in my pocket would be great. I just thought it would be a good idea to stick with canon and I hear the A520 gets good reviews.
Well, my dad got me the Olympus Stylus 600 http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/product.asp?product=1190&fl=2. He has a slightly older model and he likes them because they are all weather and so it would be great to throw in my pocket and take skiing.
I like it, it looks like a good camera. the 2.5inch LCD is really cool, however I don't really like how there is no knob for the different modes and no viewfinder, but it's a more expensive camera than the Canon. I can't really find too many reviews on it also. It seems to be a newer model. All in all, it's a great Christmas present I'm real excited about.
Anyone have any recommendations? I just don't know what I should do. Thanks!
