I recently bought a refurbished iPad Air 2022 (M1) with 64GB storage for £290 from a reputable shop here in the UK.

It’s arrived and the screen is a bit scratched up but not too noticeable when using.

However, the box says “iPad Air Wi-Fi 64GB Blue Demo” on the Apple sticker. Despite this, I can still set it up and sign into my Apple ID and set up Touch ID as normal. In addition, checking the serial on the Apple Warranty website says it has limited warranty until 04/2025. Should I be okay to keep it? And did I get a good deal for the price? Many thanks

Do the scratches bug you enough to want one without scratches?

This seems to be a very "eye of the beholder" decision that probably only you can make. If 50 of us say "keep it" and 50 say "return" it... or 70:30 or similar, it's still you living with the scratches and any other concerns you hold.

None of us can know if it is going to work well for a long time or conk soon. It looks like you have a warranty that will last for a few more months. Then you are on your own.

If it bugs you, return it. If not, enjoy it.

I can only say what I would do - I would want to add AC+ to cover issues after April, especially as you're likely not covered by CL since it's "Refurbished." And it's not eligible for AC+ being more than 60 days from original sale. So that would be a "No-go" for me.

Refurbished purchases from Apple have their warranties reset so they (a) get a full year and (b) are eligible for AC+. That's the direction I'd look.

It’s a demo unit, so some wear and tear should be expected. You’ll get your full warranty through the retailer, so don’t worry about that.

As for whether or not you should return it: if the scratches bother you too much, return it. It’s only something you can decide. If you’re happy with the cheaper price and can live with the scratches, than keep it. :) 290 sounds like a good price to me, but again it’s up to you!
