Heading out west to the desert tomorrow, flying into Vegas, renting a car, before even booking a hotel room my brother and I will be probably head to Death Valley. The next day we may do Grand Canyon and Zion the day after that. Do you think it is safe to bring my 2014 15" MacBook Pro with me? It'll be in the car within the computer backpack while my brother and I check out the sights until sunset. Tomorrow's forecast high is 81 in Death Valley.

Having the computer on the trip may be helpful since my iPhone touchscreen ain't working too well these days. Any advice much appreciated.

You are okay in the winter there, but a summer day in Death Valley would certainly exceed the operating requirements.

If the forecast is 81, and you ensure that it is not in the sun and not in a car with the windows rolled up while in sun (i.e., crack the windows and park in shade), you will be fine. Lithium batteries really hate heat, and a car in the sun with closed windows on a hot day can get hot enough to potentially expedite the wear of a lithium battery and, in rare cases, cause more rapid functional issues.
