1. Update leopard by installing it?
or
2. Erase my current harddrive, and do a complete fresh install?

I'm debating between these 2 choices.
Obviously the benefit of #1 is time...very time saving for just upgrading it.
But for #2, I can erase all the junk that might be hidden in the system, making it run faster or something...

Most everyone in the tech world will recommend a fresh install vs an upgrade with a new OS. It just helps avoid some unusual and obnoxious problems. You'll usually see speed increases with fresh installs.
