Should i let the battery run down before charging it? wondering if it will help the cycles and make the battery last longer?

no that would count as a cycle, and lithium ion batteries have a limited number of cycles. try not to drain it past 50%. every few months or so, you should drain it until it shuts off, just to calibrate the battery.
