I am really anxious to start editing my photos, but am a bit confused about whether I should wait for the Elements upgrade to the universal binary (?) or go ahead and get started. When there is an upgrade, will I have to purchase new again, or just an upgrade? Any idea WHEN? Thanks!

Go ahead and get started because you will be able to upgrade when the UB version comes out. I can't recall any Photoshop release since PS2 that wasn't upgradeable to the next version, unless I've forgotten a version or two along the way...

I think even the first CS was upgradeable from PS7/8? I loose track of all the versions sometimes...
