Hey guys, I'll be getting a 500 GB Scorpio Blue to replace my current 250 GB HD. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to partition it? For example, a part of it for the apps and all that, and the other part for data etc. like I had back in the days of using Windows on PC? Or is it not necessary on Mac?

Thanks

its not that its unnecessary on a Mac, its just it makes it easier to do a clean reinstall of an operating system without wiping your data. IMO its not necessary if you have an external backup.

there may be a little performance gain from keeping all the system files near the fastest part of the hard disk spindle but nothing drastic.
