Guys, I have a late 2008 unibody Macbook Pro.
I bought and "installed" the invisible shield on the same day as I received my new Macbook.

But I noticed a little yellow coloration on the palm rest protection.
Should I peel off?

I mean, has anyone noticed any yellow coloration on the palm rest of your macbook pro WITHOUT using a protection? The "natural aluminum" only?

i am afraid of peeling the invisible shield off of the palm rest area and after it gets yellow…

Thanks!

Alum, don't go yellowish, i believe it's from your invisible shield plastic.
Up to you to peel it off.

If you find it disgusting then by all means.

i would DEFINITELY peel it off... you did NOT pay 2k dollar with a cheap rubbery crap on it. i myself also had invisshield actually too but i decided to FINALLY take it off and NO regrets.. (ive had it off for like 4 months now) the invisible shield just gets TOO mucky and GROSS

Before this Aluminum Macbook, I had a White Macbook, so you can imagine how afraid I am of dirt or yellow marks!

So, you can asure me that aluminum wont go yellow or black or any color?

I just dont like the feel of the invisible shield on the palm rest. Thats why I am asking :)

Thanks a lot!

You are completely right! My invisible shield (only the palm rest part) is getting yellow on the center and black on the corners…
Thats terrible!

And if its hot ans I sweat, it really gets mucky and gross!

I am just afraid of a possible dirt that wont go out just as the white macbook. I used to clean everyday but after 6 months there were that kind of HARD DIRT that wont go out.
Its is NOT gonna happen on the aluminum, will it?

hm.. actually i can't say myself cause I dont know from first hand experience... but i know for sure that the aluminum lasts a lot better..

i dont get the people who make their macbooks brown.. but realistically, the aluminum should stay fine

I sweat a lot beause I drink like 2 liters of water per day. And no, I am not a fat man ahahah! And I live in Brazil - Sao Paulo, here is a tropical country: hot and cold, but always humid, so people are always sweating.

At this moment I am holding the palm rest protection and saying: Jesus, help me here, should I peel it off?
Jesus says: You shouldnt peel it off. When you sell it, it wont have any sign of dirt!
And the Devil says: Ohh come on! Peel it offf! Dirt is good! I love dirt, actually I eat dirt with soup!

I think Jesus is less concerned whether you should peel it off or not

Its not a huge issue, peel it off, buy a new one or run your laptop "naked"

I had one on my Air, did the same thing.
Peeled it off and been fine.

I don't think the aluminum yellows.
There used to be a problem in the old PB's that I'm pretty sure was resolved in the MBP's concerning palmrest pitting & turning blackish.

Ok. DONE!
I peeled it off!

Ohhhhhhh the aluminum feels so different in my hands
hahah

I really hope it doesnt get dirt that this sensation wont go away!

I would peel it off and put a new piece of film.

Just like the 3m protection tape on cars, those films are meant to take the abuse. If it borders you a lot, take it off and put on a new sheet.

Aluminum is a metal. Metal never loses it's shine and luster it just gets covered up by dirt and grime. If the aluminum turns colors, clean it.

except there is a coating on the aluminum. And it will still pit and turn nasty. Moshi palmguards a much better

I believe you. I used to live in Panama but I drank 2 liters of rum and coke everyday. We had no air conditioning so it helped.

There is no coating on the aluminum. It's bare aluminum alloy.

Palm guards could interfere with the rubber gasket around the screen lid.

So anodized aluminum is "bare" aluminum? Are you sure of what bare aluminum looks like?
