So my HTC Desire contract is almost up (August 2012) Should I rather wait till the end of the year to see what the next iPhone has install - or just get the iPhone 4s now?

I wonder if the next iPhone will be a big upgrade or just hardware only...

I have an iPhone 4 with an upgrade available. I'm passing on the 4s. If history tells us anything, the next iPhone should be significantly different from the 4/4s.

Also, it will probably be 4g.

Rumor has it that it'll only have 4G, a better camera and maybe a better battery or processor. Significantly different? I say no.

I guess you right - history has taught us that every other release is better with Apple.

So the verdict is rather wait you say...
Hmm, okay then.

Just here in SA I may only have the phone next year as Apple takes a while to get their products out here!

If the iPhone 4s ticks your boxes of wants and needs then get it.

If one waited for whats new out around the corner then one would not actually purchase anything at all.

What history is everyone talking about? If you are comparing the big jump from iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4 with the iPhone 4S to the next iPhone I think your logic is flawed. 1 example does not constitute a HISTORY.

I think it's down to personal preference. In my view the 4s is a decent improvement over the 4, and if it does what you want at the moment, then go for it.
I'm not interested in 4g as this isn't available in the uk anyway yet, plus the 4s offers much faster download speeds (not that I've ever seen faster than 5mb/s anyway)
However I may eat my words after I see what the new iPhone has to offer

Ive used my iPhone 4 by the side of a 4s and the new processor does not warrant in my opinion an upgrade. yes its slightly speedier but does not provide a WoW factor. I suppose if your a gamer then the speed increase would warrant the upgrade.

Im not an avid photographer so the better camera is no temptation either.

And i already have Siri on my iPhone 4.

Hence why I'm awaiting the next iPhone to see what this brings to the table.

Well according to reports - the next iPhone may launch in June. If that's the case I will definitely wait for it.

Otherwise I may end up taking the 4s as I hate my HTC and not sure I can last another 9 months with it...

I would wait for the next iPhone to be released before I make the decision, if I were in your situation. As long as your HTC Desire can hold you over until about September/October, you should be fine.

Since you have the 4 now I would just wait it out.

Says who?

I have a HTC Desire - not an iPhone 4.

I have decided to at least wait until the new iPhone is out to see what it has to offer then go from there.

Will try stick it out with the crappy Desire till then.

Thanks gents.

Glad we helped to resolve your indecision ! ;)
