So here's my story. I got up at 4:40am EST on 9/14 to order my phone from Apple and was in the batch to get the phone in 2 weeks. As I was not happy with this, a little later I went and ordered a second phone from AT&T at full price so I could get it earlier. My AT&T phone will be here tomorrow, that I paid full price for. My Apple subsidized cost phone is still due to be delivered on October 2nd.
My original plan was to wait for the Apple one to arrive, put the activated sim card from the full price phone into the Apple one and then just return the full priced one to AT&T for a refund. However, upon talking to others I'm wondering if I should instead cancel the Apple order and once my eligibility is reset, take my full price, activated phone to AT&T to see if they will refund me the difference between the full price and the subsidized cost. Or maybe even if I have to return it and then re-purchase it right then and there at the subsidized cost. We are talking a difference between $649 and $199 here.
Does anyone have any ideas on what would be easier or the better thing to do? I'm just concerned that AT&T might be difficult to deal with if I try to get them to give me a partial refund on a phone I already bought or if they would even let me return it and then re-purchase it immediately. But then again, I'm also worried about using it for a week and a half, getting it completely setup, having the possibility of it getting used/ scratched, etc. in that time and then trying to return it. So, what would you do? What do you think is the easiest and best way to proceed? Thanks
